Plan Check Kitchen + Bar has multiple locations in LA that serve the best modern American comfort food you'll probably get to experience on this side of town. Their food is served in a small plate format and they have an extremely well stocked bar with specialty cocktails, craft beers and premium whiskeys.
Apart from how the drinks were, the first thing I wanted to know was the meaning behind Plan Check's name. I found out that The Plan Check brand was inspired by the very first location, adjacent to the Building and Safety Department. The Building and Safety Department was the place where hundreds of Architects, Developers, Designers and Engineers would flock daily to get plans reviewed for permitting. Plan Check's plan was to embody the architectural creativity that surrounded the restaurant. In my opinion they did a pretty good job of creating such a warm and friendly environment amidst the industrial atmosphere.
With a brand new location that's opened up in Downtown Los Angeles the editors at SOCIAL and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check out one of Los Angeles' most intriguing hot spots. We decided to check out their Happy Hour and were astounded by the fact that we had what felt like a full course plus cocktails for a Happy Hour price. Best known for their on-tap S&L Old Fashioned ($6), PlanCheck has devised their very own specialty cocktail "on demand" which is the best we've had in the city. With a laid-back atmosphere, TV's for the game and a patio with views of the city Plan Check is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike.
